About Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Charles Rennie Mackintosh was born in a suburb of Glasgow in 1868. He is one of the most celebrated architects of all time.  He met and married his wife Margaret after meeting at the Glasgow School of Art.

Mackintosh took his inspirations from Scottish traditions as well as from the Art Nouveau period to produce a Mackintosh style which is very recognisable today - his wife, who was indeed a celebrated artist of her time was a large influence, particularly on the interior design side.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh died aged just 60 years old in 1928.
